Everything has a meaning. The color of breast cancer wristbands is no exception.

Breast cancer, also known as the malignant breast neoplasm, is a kind of cancer that builds up in the breast. It usually originates from the inner lining of lobules where milk comes from. It does not have a direct cure up until now causing thousands of families to suffer emotionally and financially.  Breast cancer is a big factor in the mortality rate of women all over the world. And though men could have breast cancer, this is far more common in women.

As time goes by, people are starting to be aware of this illness and are gradually becoming proactive and doing positive acts of helping solve the problem or lessening the number of victims through an awareness campaign, and helping the victims in their treatment through fund raising.  Among others, awareness campaigns and fund-raising activities are done by selling breast cancer wristbands.

Breast cancer wristbands come in different colors. If the color is black, then it is for Metastatic Breast Cancer Awareness. The color black is also a representation of other kinds of cancer like the skin cancer, Melanoma, Mourning and POW-MIA.  The famous pink color is a representation of breast cancer awareness. It also represents inflammatory breast cancer and awareness of testicular cancer.

Breast cancer wristbands are part of the efforts of advocates in fighting breast cancer. Cancer is a name of a disease that brings pain unto many people simply by talking about it.
